Black Olive is a deep espresso-brown marble laced with intricate taupe and beige veining.
The base is a dark espresso-brown, close to black in low light, which is what gives this stone its weight. Fine taupe and beige veining threads across it in a detailed, almost web-like pattern, catching the light and lifting the dark ground. The contrast reads clearly from a distance, so it makes an impression across a room rather than only up close. Over a large area it holds rich, luxurious depth. It works with brass, timber, cream joinery and warm neutrals.

Where it works
Black Olive is a marble, so it wants a bit more care than the travertines in the range. It is softer, etches with acids, and needs sealing once it is down, which makes it best suited to areas where it will be seen rather than worked hard. Dark stone has its own quirks: etch marks and water spotting show more readily on a polished dark surface than on a pale one, and dust shows too. That said, it is a stone worth using boldly. A slab on a vanity, island end or feature wall lets the veining run properly, and the 406 x 812mm size gives you the same drama on a wall without going to slab. The recommended applications for this stone are still being confirmed, so contact us and we can advise on the right fit for your job.
Choosing a finish
Available finishes: Honed and polished finish with a smooth, refined surface and subtle sheen that enriches the marble’s deep olive-black tones and distinctive natural veining.
As a guide with marble, a polished finish drives the depth of the brown hardest and brings the veining up brightest, which suits vanities, splashbacks and feature walls, though on a dark stone it shows marks and etching most readily. A honed finish is flatter and considerably more forgiving day to day, which makes it the safer pick for floors and benchtops. If you are unsure which finish fits your project, give us a call and we can talk it through.
Order a sample
Order a sample to see Black Olive in your own light before you commit. Dark stone reads very differently in a bright showroom than in a real room, so it is worth checking it on site and in the light it will actually live in.
