Mosaics usually come face-mounted or mesh-backed on sheets for easier laying, and the individual pieces may be glossy, matte or a mix. A glossy finish lifts the cobalt and teal and gives real depth in a pool or on a feature wall where you want the light to play across it. Grout colour makes a big difference with mosaic, since there is so much of it: a mid or dark grout keeps the deep, saturated look, while a white grout would break the blue into a grid.
