Vanguard Blue Macauba is a vibrant aqua-blue mosaic with flowing sky and turquoise marbling, in the look of Blue Macauba stone.
The colour is a bright aqua-blue, run through with flowing sky-blue and turquoise marbling, so the surface moves and swirls like the famous Blue Macauba quartzite it takes its name from. The marbling gives it real fluid movement rather than a flat colour. Across a pool or wall it reads bright, fluid and aquatic, the blues and turquoise flowing across the surface like water. It is a striking, distinctive feature. It works with pale stone, timber, white joinery, brass and bright, coastal or luxurious schemes.

Where it works
Mosaic is a feature material, and Vanguard Blue Macauba's flowing aqua-blue marbling is made to be a feature. It suits pool waterlines and full pool interiors, where the marbled blues give a bright, fluid, moving water look, and bathroom feature walls, splashbacks and spa surrounds where a striking aquatic surface is wanted. The small format lets it follow curves and wrap corners in a way sheet tiles cannot, which is why mosaics suit pools and rounded walls. The marbling reads especially well over a large pool, where there is room for the flow to move, and if the marbling is directional it is worth setting the sheets out dry first so it runs the way you want. Whether this particular mosaic is rated for pool and full wet-area use depends on the material and backing, so that is worth confirming. Mosaics usually come face-mounted or mesh-backed on sheets for easier laying, and the individual pieces may be glossy, matte or a mix. A glossy finish lifts the aqua and turquoise and brings out the marbled flow, which suits a pool or feature wall where you want the light to play across it. Grout colour makes a big difference with mosaic, since there is so much of it: a mid blue or turquoise-grey grout usually sits back and lets the marbling lead, while a white grout brightens the sheet.
