Mars-Black-Porcelain

Mars Black Porcelain

Mars Black is a deep charcoal-black porcelain paver with a bold, sophisticated character.

The colour is a deep charcoal-black, warmed just enough by subtle brown undertones so it reads with depth rather than as a flat, cold black. Fine mineral speckling runs evenly through the surface, giving quiet texture rather than veining or pattern. Over a large floor or paved area it reads as a rich, even black that anchors a space and makes a strong contemporary statement. It works with timber, render, greenery, brass, and lighter paving where you want a bold grounding contrast, indoors or out.

Where it works

Porcelain behaves very differently to natural stone. It does not need sealing, it does not etch from acids, and it takes far more wear, which makes it a low-maintenance choice for busy areas. At 20mm, this is a structural paver, the format made for outdoor use: pool surrounds, alfresco areas, paths and courtyards, where it can go over pedestals, on a gravel or sand bed, or bedded traditionally. A black paver gives a bold, modern edge and a strong contrast against lighter paving, render, decking and pool water. One practical point: a dark surface holds more heat in direct sun, so it is worth thinking about underfoot around a pool. The 20mm thickness also means strong slip resistance and load capacity for external paving. The recommended applications are still being confirmed, so contact us and we can advise on the right fit for your job, indoors or out.

Choosing a finish

Available finishes: TBC

Porcelain pavers of this kind usually come in a textured, matte, structured finish built for grip underfoot, which is what you want around pools and outdoors. Unlike natural stone, the finish is consistent tile to tile. A black paver can show dust, salt and water spotting more than a mid tone, so a matte, textured finish helps keep it looking even. If a matching thinner tile is available for indoor floors to carry the same look inside, it is worth asking, since 20mm is heavy for internal work. If you are unsure which finish or format fits your project, give us a call and we can talk it through.
