The colour is a bright aqua-blue, run through with icy white, turquoise and smoky grey marbling, so the surface has a dynamic, crystalline quality, like fractured ice or sunlit shallows. The white and grey marbling gives it real movement and a cool, crystalline edge rather than a flat colour. Across a pool or wall it reads bright, dynamic and coastal, the aqua and turquoise flowing against the icy white and grey. Mosaic is a feature material, and Vanguard Kara Blue's crystalline aqua-blue marbling is made to be a feature. It suits pool waterlines and full pool interiors, where the marbled aqua, turquoise and white give a bright, dynamic, sunlit water look, and bathroom feature walls, splashbacks and spa surrounds where a striking aquatic surface is wanted. The small format lets it follow curves and wrap corners in a way sheet tiles cannot, which is why mosaics suit pools and rounded walls. The marbling reads especially well over a large pool, where there is room for the flow to move, and if it is directional it is worth setting the sheets out dry first. Whether this particular mosaic is rated for pool and full wet-area use depends on the material and backing, so that is worth confirming. Mosaics usually come face-mounted or mesh-backed on sheets for easier laying, and the individual pieces may be glossy, matte or a mix. A glossy finish lifts the aqua and turquoise and brings out the marbled, crystalline flow, which suits a pool or feature wall. Grout colour makes a big difference with mosaic, since there is so much of it: a white or pale grey grout keeps the crystalline, icy feel and works with the white marbling, while a mid blue-grey grout deepens the tone.
