Bondi-Sand-Limestone

Bondi Sand Limestone

Bondi Sand is a warm sandy-beige limestone with a relaxed, natural, coastal character.

The colour is a warm sandy-beige, softened by cream undertones so it reads as an easy, relaxed neutral rather than a strong tone. Subtle fossil markings run through the stone, understated and organic, which gives it quiet natural detail without pattern. Over a large floor or wall it reads as a calm, even sand colour with that matte limestone character, the detail showing up close. It has a natural, beachy warmth that pairs well with timber, rattan, linen tones, white render and greenery.

Where it works

Limestone is a softer, more porous stone, so it wants sealing and a bit of care, and acids will etch it much like a marble. Its strength is a natural, matte, understated look, and the warm sandy tone here is well suited to relaxed, coastal and natural schemes. The character suits it to bathrooms, feature walls, living floors and, depending on the finish and how hard-wearing this particular stone is, outdoor and alfresco areas where a natural, non-slip surface is wanted. The wide size range, from small format through to slab, covers everything from feature walls to broad floors. The recommended applications for this stone are still being confirmed, so contact us and we can advise on the right fit for your job, indoors or out.

Choosing a finish

Available finishes: Available in polished, honed, tumbled, honed and tumbled, or sandblasted and tumbled finishes, each enhancing the limestone’s soft sandy tones, natural texture, and relaxed coastal character.

As a guide with limestone, a honed finish gives a smooth, natural matte face that suits internal floors, walls and living areas, and shows the sandy tone and fossil detail cleanly. A brushed or textured finish adds grip underfoot, which makes it the safer pick for wet areas, pool surrounds and outdoor use. Limestone is not usually polished the way marble is, since the matte, natural look is the point. If you are unsure which finish fits your project, give us a call and we can talk it through.
